Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the lobster fishery for for sub-area 19A1 from April 27 to July 6 2024, and sub-areas 20A2 to 20B8 from April 27 to July 4 2024.

Please note that the season starts at 4h30 AM for all sub-zones.

The management measures set out in the Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP), approved on April 19, 2023, are renewed.

Application and Fishing Areas

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for snow crab applies to the Area 13 snow crab fishing licence holders from Quebec and Newfoundland & Labrador Regions.

Fishing season

The specific periods of the 2024 snow crab fishing season will be confirmed by Notice to Fishermen or Variation Orders. The duration of the fishing season will be 14 weeks in length, with two season options, at the option of the licence holder.

Quotas

Snow crab quotas will be 220.03 tons in 2024.

 

Conservation Harvesting Plan Lobster-Area 22- Magdalen Islands Fleet-Season 2024

1. Application

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for Lobster applies to the licence holders from the Magdalen Islands fleet when fishing lobster in Lobster Fishing Area 22 in 2024.

2. Fishing Areas

Subject to any Variation Order and based on valid Conditions of licence, the authorized fishing area is Lobster Fishing Area 22, a coastal area surrounding the Magdalen Islands.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the 2023 lobster fishing season in zones 15, 16, 17 and 18 according to the following dates:

Areas 15-16 and sub-area 18I :  From May 13 to August 4

Sub-area 17A : From May 6 to July 21

Sub-area 17B : From April 24 to July 16

Sub-area 18B : From May 15 to July 30

Sub-area 18C : From April 29 to July 14

Sub-area 18D : From May 15 to July 30

Application and Fishing Areas

This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies to the fleets of snow crab licence holders in Areas 12A, 12C, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17.

Fishing season

The specific periods of the 2024 snow crab fishing season for each of the Snow Crab Fishing Areas (CFAs) will be confirmed by Notice to Fishermen or Variation Orders. The duration of the fishing season is 10 weeks (CFA 12A), 13 weeks (CFA 17) and 14 weeks (CFA 12C, 14, 15, 16, and 16A).

Sept-Îles – April 11, 2024

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces the opening of the snow crab fishing season in area 14. The opening is scheduled for Monday, April 22th, 2024 at 5:00 a.m. (EDT) for the first period.

As recommended by the fleet representatives, two periods of fishing activity is in effect in Area 14 for the 2024 season. Licence holders are offered the opportunity to choose among the 2 following options:

Option 1 :

Atlantic halibut - Upper and Middle North Shore NAFO 4RST divisions fixed gear fleet with ITQ – season 2023–2024 - Notice to Fish Harvesters

Sept-Îles – April 12th, 2024

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the Spring opening date for the Atlantic halibut fishery in NAFO Divisions 4RST by the Upper and Middle North Shore (UMNS) fixed gear fleet of less than 19.81 m under the Individual Transferable Quotas (ITQ) regime in 2023-2024. The opening date is scheduled in April 17, 2024 at 5 a.m. (EDT).

NOTICE OF INTEREST EXPLORATORY LOBSTER LICENCES SUBAREAS 18A TO 18H

  • Sept-Iles – April 11, 2024

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is implementing a plan for the knowledge acquisition and development of the lobster fishery in fishing area 18. This plan will include the issuance of exploratory lobster licences for the 2024 season. DFO invites interested licence holders to submit an application for an exploratory licence for lobster in fishing subareas 18A to 18H by April 21, 2024.
