1. Application

    This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) for Atlantic razor clams, Atlantic surf clams and Stimpson`s surf clams applies to the license holders of the Magdalen Islands fleet when conducting fishing activities in Area No. 5 with a hydraulic dredge. This CHP will be in effect in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

    1. Application

    The present conservation harvesting plan (CHP) applies to sea  urchin exploratory licence holders of area 8, from August 1, 2022 to May 31, 2025.

    2. Fishing Areas

    The sea urchin fishing sub-areas are marked by straight lines connecting the following points in the order listed and closing to the coast:

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces the opening of the exploratory sea urchin dive fishery in Area 8 as of August 1, 2022.

    Fishers are asked to note the implementation of a total allowable catch (TAC) for sub-area 8D, effective for the 2022 season.

    The TACs, for sub-areas 8D and 8E, applicable between January 1 and December 31 of each year, are as follows

    1. Application

    This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies to the Sea Cucumber (Curcumaria frondosa) dredge fishery in areas A, B and C for seasons 2021, 2022 and 2023.

    Sea Cucumber dredge fishery in the Gaspé is an exploratory fishery (phase II – commercial and stock assessment stage according to the New Emerging Fisheries Policy, 2001), under a competitive regime. 

    It should be noted that this CHP is subject to change at any time.

    Conservation harvesting plan - BLUEFIN TUNA – GULF – EX-SECTOR – QUEBEC FLEET 2022-2023 SEASON (11-07-2022)

    1. Application

    This Conservation Harvesting Plan applies to Bluefin tuna licence holders from the Quebec fleet using vessels of less than 19.81 m.

    2. Fishing areas

    Based on valid Licence’s Conditions and subject to Variation Order, the authorized fishing areas for Bluefin tuna are: 4RST for Gulf fishing (home waters) and 4Wd, 4VsW, 4X and 5 for Ex-Sector fishing.

    Squid season-opening announcement - Area 16

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region announces opening of the Area 16 squid fishing season on July 18, 2022.

    The fishing season will end on November 30, 2022.

    In order to obtain the Conditions of Licence, licence holders will have to apply for them through the National Licensing System online.     Lobster_: Increasing the size of trap escape vents- Areas 19, 20 and 21_Notice to Fish Harvesters

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Quebec Region informs lobster licence holders in Areas 19, 20 and 21 of changes to fishing gear. 

    As announced at the 2020 and 2021 Lobster Workshop, the Department would like to remind lobster fishers in Gaspe areas 19, 20 and 21 that the size of the rectangular escape vent opening will be modified at the height level as of the 2022 fishing season. The new height dimension of the rectangular escapement opening shall not be less than 47mm.

    Announcement of the opening lobster fishing season – Area 22

    Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces that pursuant to Variation Order 2022-Q-029, the lobster fishery in Area 22 will open May 7, 2022, at 5 A.M.

    The fishing season will end on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 23:59 (ADT).

    As the fishing timetable does not apply the last two days prior to the closure of the fishery, fish harvesters will be authorized to haul their traps between 00:01 and 24:00 the last Thursday and Friday of the season, July 7 and July 8.
