Fisheries and Oceans Canada announced the appointment, on April 8, 2019, of Claude Tremblay as the Director of the Canadian Hydrographic Service, for Quebec.

Since joining Fisheries and Oceans Canada in 1992, Mr. Tremblay has held positions of increasing responsibility. He also chaired the Regional Science Vessel Coordination Committee and sat on the National Science at-Sea Committee.

His vast knowledge of science data management issues and his talent for establishing strong ties with partners will make Claude Tremblay will be a major asset for the Department. He will be an experienced team to carry out his waterways management and regional and national marine traffic safety mandate.

Mr. Tremblay takes over from Serge Gosselin, who has been in place since 2014. The latter is now undertaking national mandates, again for the Canadian Hydrographic Service.
