Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region informs whelk licence holders in Areas
1 to 9 of the Quebec Region of changes to whelk fishery management measures that will be in effect as of April 1, 2024.

Licence holders must contact Fisheries and Oceans Canada by e-mail at: LAUMPOGaspe-260@dfo-mpo.gc.ca before 7:00 p.m. the day prior to the departure of each trip.
Minimal whelk size
The minimum size of whelk in zones 4 and 5 will remain at 85 mm for the 2024 season. DFO will analyze and revise the minimum size of these two areas as necessary after the fishing season. The legal size will be confirmed by a Notice to Fish Harvesters prior to the 2025 fishing season.
