Application and Fishing Areas
This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies to the fleets of lobster licence holders in subareas 18A to 18H.
Fishing season
Subareas 18A to 18H : 11 weeks
The following seasons will be in effect for the duration of this CHP. They represent the maximum fishing periods, subject to specific orders and close times, among others. Opening dates may vary according to specific circumstances and fisheries management considerations, including industry requests while closures may be anticipated, particularly for conservation reasons.Specific periods will be confirmed by Notice to Fish Harvesters or Variation Orders
Management Regime
Competitive, by control of fishing effort.
Fishing Gear
Fishery is authorized with a lobster traps, as described in the Conditions of licence.
Other management measures
Management measures for the lobster fishery in 2024 will also include the following aspects:
Fishing gear;
Management measures to minimize the risks or interactions with the North Atlantic Right Whale;
Marine mammal interaction reporting;
Reporting of fishing effort and catches (logbook);
Vessel Monitoring System (VMS);
Boat length;
Trap transport;
Lobster transport;
Species at risk;
Crew registry;
Discharge of waste;
Participation Criteria;
National Online Licensing System.
