SUMMARY OF THE CONSERVATION HARVESTING PLAN (CHP)

Application and Fishing Areas
This Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP) applies to sea cucumber fishing licence holders in Area 3 of the North Shore.
Fishing season
The fishery is authorized annually from May 1 to October 31.
The fishing seasons established in this CHP represent the maximum duration of fishing periods. Thus, opening and closure dates may vary according to particular circumstances and fisheries management considerations.
Allocation
Maximum number of fishing*days per sub-area:
3A : 25 fishing*days;
3B : 70 fishing*days;
3C : 25 fishing*days.
The administrative list of individual fishing*days allocated to each licence holder is available in Appendix 1 of CHP.
No transfer of fishing days is allowed.
Fishing Gear
Fishery is authorized with a Sea cucumber dredge mounted on skates, as described in the Conditions of licence.
Other management measures
The management measures for the Sea concomber fishery in 2024 will obligatorily include the following measures:
Management measures to minimize the risks or interactions with the North Atlantic Right Whale;
Marine mammal interaction reporting
Hail prior departure;
At-sea observer
Dockside monitoring;
Reporting of fishing effort and catches (logbook);
Vessel Monitoring System (VMS);
Incidental catches;
Simultaneous fisheries;
Boat length;
Species at risk;
Crew registry;
Discharge of waste;
National Online Licensing System.
