SUBJECT: Confirmation of the opening date for scallop fishery, Area 20

Québec/Magdalen Islands – March 16, 2023

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Quebec Region announces that pursuant to Variation Order 2023-Q-002, the scallop fishing season in the Magdalen Islands will begin on Monday, March 20, 2023.

The minimum number of fishing days allowed in sub-area 20A is 10 days per licence holder.

It should be reminded that it is the responsibility of the captain to acquaint himself with the marine safety notices published by Environment and Climate Change Canada and Transport Canada as well as with the standards and best practices in marine safety and to take all measures necessary to ensure a safe fishery during the period where fishing is authorized.

To obtain the conditions of their licences, licence holders must log on to the National Online Licensing System.
