Salary: Between $18,42 and $27,68 per hour

Date: Summer and/or fall 2024

Work schedule: Flexible, 37.5 hours per week

Are you looking for a student work experience that will allow you to put your knowledge into practice? Are you committed to the recognition of rights, respect, collaboration and the development of partnerships with First Peoples? If so, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is looking for a student to join its Strategic Services Division, in the Indigenous Relations and Partnerships team! 

Our team offers resources, advice, guidance, tools for awareness and training on Indigenous realities. 

Wondering what your tasks will be? 

As part of a team, you will:

  • Contribute to the logistics of Indigenous awareness/information session activities.
  • Contribute to documentary research and the drafting of fact sheets on the First Nations in Quebec (legal, cultural and historical aspects, environmental, fisheries and oceans).
  • Participate in the development of a resource center and guide on Indigenous relations and partnerships at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region.

Here's the desired profile:

  • Studies: Be enrolled in a program at a recognized post-secondary institution in social sciences including political science, native studies or sociology.
  • Languages: French is essential. Bilingualism (BBB) is an asset. What do we mean by bilingual BBB? You must be able to speak, read and write well in both English and French.
  • Ability to identify and recognize the realities of Indigenous Nations located in Quebec.
  • Good writing and coordination skills.
  • Be comfortable using spreadsheets and word processing software, such as Word and Excel.
  • Experience in delivering information or training sessions is an asset.
  • Experience in collaborating, establishing relationships or engaging in discussions with indigenous communities or organizations is an asset.
  • Creativity in developing presentations using tools such as PowerPoint, Canva, etc. is an asset.
  • Agree to participate in the process of obtaining a security clearance.
